There are a whole number of ways that individuals and organisations can help. We rely on a steady stream of donations of items for our charity shops and raffle prize donations are also always welcome. If you would like to support us, you may be able to help us in any of other the following ways.

Our Shops

Age Concern New Forest operates three charity shops in the local area, and the money we get from the sale of high quality donations is an integral part of our financial strategy for sustaining our other charitable activities.

The shops also offer local employment and volunteering opportunities and enable us to advertise our services more widely out in the community. We are incredibly grateful for all the support we receive.

Donations

Donations are gratefully accepted, but please only donate good quality items that you would be happy to buy yourself. We may have to refuse donations as we can only store a certain number each day.

We offer a limited collection service for donations, if you are unable to get them to us. Please Contact Us for more details.

Volunteering

At Age Concern New Forest, volunteering is the cornerstone of our work. Our team of roughly 150 volunteers, many of whom are retirees, is vital to our services. We strive to make their experience with us both rewarding and enjoyable.

Each year, we host a celebration to acknowledge our volunteers’ dedication, presenting long service certificates to those marking 3, 5, 10, 15 years or more, with the longest tenure being almost 30 years!

Volunteering is not only a generous act of community service but also a rewarding journey for the volunteers, the organisation, and the wider community.

Volunteering Opportunities

Volunteers are the heart of our charity, offering a variety of services to our clients, from direct support to administrative assistance. If you have a few hours to spare each week please help us:

• Befriend isolated individuals through home visits or regular calls.
• Volunteer at our Lunch Clubs.
• Manage reception at our Foot Care Clinics.
• Support your community as a Good Neighbour with simple tasks and transportation.
• Teach IT skills to enhance digital literacy.
• Work in our Charity Shops.
• Assist with office tasks and answering calls.

• DBS checks are required for certain roles.
• We reimburse all reasonable volunteer expenses.

Financial Support

Age Concern New Forest receives no government funding and raises income though its charity shops, contribution payments for some of its charitable activities, donations, legacies, grants and other fundraising events and initiatives.

Each contribution, no matter how small, helps us make a difference.

Donations

Donations are always very gratefully received. You can donate directly online but we are also always delighted to receive donations at our Main Office in Hythe or at any of our charity shops.

Legacies

We recognise that when drafting a Will, your primary concern is that of your loved ones. However, you may contemplate leaving a legacy to a cause that has touched your life or the life of someone close to you, or one whose work you deeply respect.

If you consider Age Concern New Forest as such a cause, we would be profoundly honoured. A bequest in your Will, regardless of its size, would empower us to continue making a significant impact on the lives of vulnerable older individuals and their families in our local community for years to come.
