Age Concern New Forest offer a range of services, in a number of different locations to people aged over 55 in our local communities.

Information & Advice

Age Concern New Forest can provide you with information and advice on a range of issues relating to older people (aged 55 and over), their rights and entitlements, local services and support available to them and those who care for and support them.

Befriending

Many people live alone and yearn for companionship. Our volunteer team visits those who are housebound or isolated, offering friendship and company through regular visits or phone calls. Our Befrienders help alleviate loneliness and social isolation in the community.

If you have a few hours to spare each week and would like to make a difference, consider volunteering as a Befriender. Please see our Volunteering section for more information.

Foot Care

Our Foot Care services aim to provide access to high quality, affordable, foot care service for those who find it difficult to cut their own nails. Advice on foot care can also be provided and other treatment needs can be arranged with our Foot Care Specialists.

Charges

Ear Care

Waterside Ear Care will visit our Hythe offices every first Monday of the month from 9am to 1pm, offering a cost-effective and secure ear wax removal service. Gosia, a certified audiologist with NHS experience, provides tailored treatments including microsuction, water irrigation, and manual removal.

Appointments last 45 minutes. Consultation is £20, or £60 with treatment.

Lunch Clubs

Gather for a cosy meal and friendly chatter close to your doorstep. Age Concern New Forest offers weekly luncheons in Totton at both the Community Centre and Bartley Church Hall, as well as fortnightly get-togethers at the Horrill Centre in Dibden. Should you require, transport is at hand.

Our Totton club luncheons are £6.50, and the Sunday luncheon £7. Should you opt for our transport, a modest contribution of £3 per person is appreciated.

We frequently enjoy a raffle as part of our lunch club entertainment and we are currently looking for donated raffle prizes please. Donations can be handed in to our office in Hythe or at one of our shops.

Waterside Good Neighbours

The Waterside Good Neighbours project offers assistance to vulnerable and socially isolated members of our Waterside or Totton communities, with daily tasks to maintain independence. We can offer help with:

Computers At Home

Need guidance with modern IT at home? Our Computers at Home service offers personal, in-home assistance; laptops, desktops, iPads, and tablets. We ask a minimum donation of £5 for one-on-one help with one of our volunteers.
